McQueen has been facing a long and difficult legal challenge and a potential sentence of 10 years in jail for her role in filming the conditions inside the pig breeding facility.
She was charged with break and enter and mischief for entering the pig shed and openly rescuing a small piglet, Noel. She remains adamant that what she did was the right thing for the animals, and likens her actions to the social justice movement fought for women’s rights, where acts of civil disobedience are right and just.
Toronto Pig Save is co-hosting the courthouse rally and memorial service afterwards. The co-founder, Anita Krajnc, faced a big trial over giving water to thirsty pigs. She was acquitted. Anita was at the courthouse also.
