I was at the ALTS LA 22 convention earlier this week. So many great things in the alternative investment community popping up. A major focus was on accredited investors whom are traditionally not people of color. There was a decent emphasis on ESG. ESG is environmental & social governance or Coprorate sustainability & equality practices.
Crypto is exciting because there are no barriers to entry in the blockchain and DEFI space
(* additional details below). Crypto is also going green with carbon neutral and carbon zero mining as nw technology innovates the space, for example TeraWulf .
Venture capital, family offices, private equity, angel investing, debt arbitrage funds, options investing, and tax minimization strategies were all top of mind at the conference. It was also amazing to hear about funds that give you exposure to professional sports teams. For the most part the alternative investment space is more on the high risk / high reward side of investing compared to Fortune 500, but it’s definitely a space we should all have exposure to. The difficulty once again, it’s skewed against people of color & socioecomic barriers.
*Regerding blockchain yes there’s barriers like capital & exposure but no cronyism, nepotism, sexism, or racism. You also have to be in a country that allows crypto.
