I found an amazing place to recuperate after surgery and sabbatical. The hardest part about not being randomly selected for a paid sabbatical was knowing I would have to fundraise.
So many beautiful things have happened as a result of doing my part in our organizing efforts for housing and social justice/impact work. I am blessed to have been given gifts from the creator that allow for me to do these things and walk in purpose.
And after a decade, rest is needed. I’m not the only one. But I am someone and it is a duty and responsibility to practice radical self care and normalize it as part of movement culture.
I want to be an example of sustainability. My current work around organizational culture, internal systems change, radical radical organizational governance, ops hubs, and language justice is exciting and this rest will allow me to continue walking in purpose.
