My Weekly Hair Oiling Routine for FAST Hair Growth & Thick, Healthy Hair
Step-by-step guide to hair oiling is explained below. And for all the oils and tools I used in this video, you will find them in my “hair care” highlight.
Here’s my full routine:
Step 1: Scalp Massage & Oil Application
If you’re trying to grow long, thick hair, don’t skip the scalp massage! This is the most important step—it stimulates blood flow to your hair follicles, helping with faster hair growth and better oil absorption.
I use pumpkin seed oil + rosemary oil for my scalp. If you’re using essential rosemary oil, you must dilute it with a carrier oil (like I do with pumpkin seed oil).
Section your hair to apply oil evenly and don’t forget the back of your scalp!
Step 2: Massage It In
Gently massage your scalp for a few minutes to stimulate hair growth and improve oil absorption.
Step 3: Oil the Lengths
Use a thicker oil like argan, castor or coconut oil on the lengths to prevent breakage and split ends.
Step 4: Protective Hairstyle & Wait
Put your hair in a loose braid or bun to keep it protected. I also use a satin bonnet to further protect and for my body heat to help the oil penetrate even more.
Leave the oil in for at least an hour.
Step 5: Wash It Out & Enjoy the Results!
After a few hours, it’s time to shower. You may need to shampoo twice to make sure all the oil is washed out!
