An intense, pulse-pounding scene unfolded in General Santos City this morning as police intercepted a carnapping incident and cornered the suspect after a dramatic chase that looked straight out of an action movie.
According to the police report, the stolen vehicle from Purok Maunlad, Barangay Apopong was quickly tracked down by the General Santos City Police Office (GenSan PNP) around 10:00 AM. Under the command of PCol. Nicomedes P. Olaivar Jr., a hot pursuit operation was launched—triggering a high-speed chase through the streets until officers finally pinned down the suspect in Zone 9, Barangay Fatima.
The suspect, identified as Jimar Alvarez Taburnal, refused to come out of the vehicle. Video footage shows him stubbornly locking himself inside, forcing officers to smash the windows using stones and firearms just to gain access. Even as he tried to escape, authorities had already completely surrounded him, leaving no room for another getaway attempt.
Thanks to the swift coordination of GenSan police and vigilant citizens, the stolen vehicle was recovered in record time and the suspect was subdued without further harm.
