2 years ago, I took a turn from my future professional opera singing career to explore a totally different side of music, the popular music scene and styles such as soul, pop, and jazz. I had spent 6 years training in school at U of M to be a professional classical composer and opera singer. I was scared to put myself out there, uncertain of how my voice and music would fit into other styles. I moved to an entirely new city with no relation to my past career to try this. Since then I’ve challenged myself by going to open mics and performing regularly, teaching myself entirely. I still have much to learn, but I’m so happy with all the progress I’ve made and can’t wait to keep learning more glad I can share this.
