Down to Stand - Slow Motion

Gain a competitive edge by mastering the concepts presented in Down to Stand - Slow Motion concerning motion.

What does GOOD posture look for a DOWN TO STAND position change?

Look no further!
In my Fitness Foundations online class, we break down each position change exercise into 3 components.
1 - The Individual Positions
In my opinion... it's VERY difficult to get the correct position change if the dog doesn't first have a) understanding, b) value, and c) strength for each position in the transition!
So in this exercise, that would be:
1) a SQUARE stand (neutral topline, elbow to carpus vertical, and rear pastern (hock to ground) vertical)
and
2) a TIGHT & SQUARE down (elbows, stifles, hips, and hocks in flexion, each leg parallel to the body and tracking forward, and overall balance).
2 - The First Transition
It doesn't matter which one you call the "first" transition... but for the sake of this video example, let's say that the "first" transition is STAND --> DOWN.
This means the dog should be able to first have a SQUARE STAND, and secondly be able to keep their 4 paws in place while they transition to a TIGHT & SQUARE DOWN.
The dog's topline should remain neutral, and the forelimbs and hindlimbs should move into flexion at the same time.
This can be accomplished in a variety of ways, but my favourite method is by luring (as shown here)!
3 - The Second Transition
Again, it doesn't matter the order... but in this example the "second" transition is the DOWN --> STAND.
This means, when the dog comes UP into the stand, they should be able to keep their 4 paws in place. Again, the dog should keep a neutral spine during the transition, and extend each joint at the same time.
Luring works here too :)
Put them all together... and voila - a position change <3
